Our Story
Deane grew up surrounded by the rugged beauty of Cape Breton, while Amy’s roots trace back to southern Ontario. After spending several years living and working overseas, we eventually returned to Ontario. But the pull of the ocean never faded. In 2021, we found our way back to Nova Scotia, eager to settle into the kind of life we had always imagined.
Leaving behind her career in photography, Amy embraced the change, while Deane faced an unexpected turn when the company he was hired on to was relocated to the U.S. Determined to stay, we chose a different path—one steeped in tradition and warmth. And so, Spill the Tea was born.
Our tea shop is more than just a place to sip and shop; it’s a reflection of our journey and our love for this charming seaside community. We’ve found a home in Mahone Bay’s winding streets, among its salt-weathered buildings and incredible local people. Each tourist season we have the pleasure of meeting visitors from around the world, sharing stories, and creating connections—one cup of tea at a time.
